SOHPEC Board Meeting Minutes
Wednesday, February 17, 2010
Meeting held at RCC Table Rock Campus was called to order at 4:10 pm by L. Gibson.

No quorum was available for this meeting.
Meeting Minutes:
Minutes were reviewed by members. T. Caswell needed to clarify to SOREDI the amount received through the Heavy Lift Cluster grant. L. Gibson will email T. Caswell a copy of the grant that specifically states the terms of the grant.
L. Gibson suggested the group join a wikipedia site for a quick way for everyone to keep updated. The first Lean Primer class is scheduled for March.
Financial Report:
Questions were raised on the $75.00 listed under the first checking account. All monies from the first account was supposed to be transferred to the second checking account and closed. L. Gibson will check with R. Holmbeck.
Executive Director Report:
Flyers for the Lean for Leaders Invitation was passed out by T. Caswell to various businesses in the valley. T. Caswell is currently meeting with valley businesses to gauge their reaction to SOHPEC. He will continue to work on updating SOHPEC’s website with new materials and the possibility of adding testimonials onto the website.
T. Caswell is currently working with Jeff Bates on SOHPEC’s marketing video. At this time T. Caswell is in the midst of transcribing testimonials and B-roll for the video. Estimated time of completion for the video is set for March.
T. Caswell sent out the statement approved by the Board concerning the new LEAN teaching module and the Board’s stand behind the Training Committee to revamp the module. It is estimated to cost $5000 to triage the current LEAN Practitioner program. The Power Up Academy is willing to work with SOHPEC to help those currently in the program to finish.
T. Caswell accompanied members of the Heavy Lift Cluster to a meeting in Salem. While there he was able to meet with many of the members in the cluster as well as members of other groups in the state.
The Kaizen Learning Exchange at Goodwill went well. B. Keefer reported that Goodwill received many great ideas from the exercise to implement.
SOHPEC Committee Status:
Training Committee:
The Training Committee is ready to launch the new training module. A Lean Primer class is scheduled for the first or second week in March. The response from many Grants Pass business that were given an invitation was very positive. If there is an overwhelming response to the first class, there may be a possibility of launching a second class. A. Nafie is scheduled to do a Lean for Leaders class.
T. Caswell would like to revamp the SOHPEC membership application. T. Caswell asked S. Law to review the general and associate membership application for changes. The board discussed the need to change the criteria for membership. It was determined that a company sending a large number of employees to training would need to pay general membership dues.
Other:
The board needs to decide the status of R. Thresher and L. Lanphier. Will they need to be replaced? Replacements suggested were Bob Acheson from Barefoot Motors and Jeff Kruse from Masterbrand. Recommendations will need to be given to E. Smith.
